THE RISE OF LFLAME
A new beginning.
KATE FOSTER TO LFLAME
When I moved to Australia in October 2025, I left my guitar behind. This forced me into a new way of writing music I had not fully experienced and wasn’t entirely comfortable with. In December, I spent a month living in the Outback writing a new song every day, using just my Novation Midi Keyboard and Albeton, pushing myself to create with no expectations. After that, it took me three months to fully develop the first song. I didn’t really know where I was going with it. As of March, I was sending a few of my productions to a close friend who was mixing them and things were going well but I was still struggling to find my style.
Then one day in June in my apartment in Brisbane, everything clicked. I produced La Lune. I gave it a heavy bouncy bass line, soaring melody, full of harmonies and rhythmic vocals, ok I see it now, my signature style made its appearance clear.
I scrapped pretty much everything I’d written before that, and each song I wrote after it finally felt authentic to who I am, the electronic/singer songwriter sound I’m striving for, and the artist I want to be.
In July 2026, I began taking production classes at Little Street Studio (big shout out to Mani) so I could learn to properly mix and master my own songs, and god did my production level sky rocket. Within a few months I finished a 5 song EP, fully written, performed, produced, mixed and mastered by yours truly (with the help of Mani). On top of it, I began taking DJ lessons, bought myself a Flx4, and was fully immersing myself in the electronic mood.
The final missing piece (I hadn’t realized yet), was changing my name.
I used to scoff at the thought of using a stage name, Kate Foster was my real name and my stage name and I was proud of it. However, I’m deliberately moving away from the singer/songwriter & guitar player I’ve been for so long. Moving away from the soft and sad girl or angry and mad girl and ex-relationship saturated lyrics. The style of music I’m now creating is different enough, it deserves it’s own spotlight.
-LFLAME-
Short for LadyFlame, my old joke rapper name from Uni. I was using it again this summer (or Aussie winter) with my DJ classmates until suddenly it wasn’t a joke anymore. It all sort of clicked into place.
The music coming from this new project and persona have set me apart from my old artist self in the best way. The vibes are high, the music is there to get your body moving and booty bumping. The lyrics encapsulate love, friendship, parties, festivals, music, good vibes, and beyond.
I can’t wait to share it.
Welcome to the LFLAME era.
